"Tollers, there is too little of what we really like in stories. I am afraid we are going to have to write some ourselves." -- C. S. Lewis, to his friend, J. R. R. Tolkien

We live in a world in which we seem to be surrounded by hundreds of stories, aimed at us in rapid-fire, either claiming that there is no larger story in which we find ourselves or that their disembodied tales are the real stories. Created to resonate with stories we have lost our own story and its part in God's larger Story. At Emmanuel House we believe one aspect of spiritual direction is that it is a midwifery of stories: we want to help people discover their own story and its place within God's greater Story. We want them to be able to tell that story and listen to others as they share theirs.

If you would like to explore stories in spiritual direction please use the contact information under spiritual direction in Kansas City and Manhattan.
